Hey. Late night around Stuckeybowl tonight. Gives me some time
to type up a small update to plop down on these creaky old mafia pages.
Had my birthday on Monday. (Gracias to those who sent life-day wishes.
I kept it on the DL, so don't feel too bad if you didn't know.) 25 now.
Car renting age. Sadly, not as exciting as Tobacco, Lottery, & Porn Buying Age.
Spent the Monday afternoon speaking @ the BA Forum
w/ Corey, Seth, Duck, & others. Was great to see Jacko again. Got a good group
of kids up here this week, but it's looking doubtful that I'll get to catch
up with them this week....so be sure to hoist a tall one for me @ the Heartland.
That's the life of a G I guess.
A small reminder for you folks: Bobo is displaying his comedic stylings this
Saturday @ Stand UP (rise above racism) NY. Hop to the
Events Seccione for the details.
Also of note: today marks the six year anniversary of my playing the role
of Gimp's Beau. Six years ago today, Bobo bought her a tequila shot at Diamonds...
and our life has never been the same. (side note: as you can tell, i am
spending our anniversary typing this update as i work into the wee hours of the
morn @ Ed. ain't i a great boyfriend?)
Watched 'Beautiful Mind' last night. Good performances, good flick.
Just downloaded the new Radiohead live album.
High-speed internet access + Kazaa = Reigns Supreme.
(Much like The D reigned on their HBO show; [of which i saw an episode
this past week: High Comedy. (as was 'The Osbournes' [which The D did a series
of funnyfunny commercials for)]).
Be sure to keep an eye on the messageboard,
as Gimp's return + a flurry of other activities has caused it to be quite
popular in the past weeks. Go, if just to wish Deeb 'Godspeed' on his departure
to the windy city...
Jedi Frants here, taking what little time I have (what
with work and PS2) to write a brief update.
So, let's see, what's in the news today?
This coming Sunday marks THE TRIUMPHANT RETURN OF HER
ROYAL MAJESTY DAME GIMPINGTON, fresh from the natural
gas stank and flammable rivers of Ohio. We look
forward to her return with much anticipation, and hope
to inbibe generously in her honor (my drinks will be
on her as part of my finder's fee).
The youngins, the Ithaca College Department of Theatre
Arts Senior Class of 2002, will be gracing the lovely
Hotel Edison with their presence next week. Hopefully
each of us will help shape these wet-behind-the-ears,
doe-eyed virgins into stars. I'll be speaking at the
writing forum, Kluv at the BA forum, and Duck at the
"Put This In Your Mouth" forum, which has been at
capacity for months now.
As for the boards. Well, there's been an unusual mix
of action and inaction. The sudden spew-forth and
resulting quick demise of Rick Throbincock came and
went without much to do. Spring training trash talk
has begun, though I can't really participate in it, as
my team has been diagnosed clinically insane and
harbors death fantasies for signing Rocker and
Everett.
To close, let us rejoice in the power of language.
·plug (plug) verb.
1. To fill (a hole) tightly with or as if with a plug;
stop up.
2. To insert (something) as a plug: plugged a cork in
the bottle
You want
pictures? You got pictures. That's right, the loads of photos that I
took on the "Ithaca Trip 2001" and "New Years 2002"
are up for everyone to enjoy. They don't have the wonderful stories
attatched to them yet, because I haven't had time yet. (But in most
cases, I think the pictures themselves tell the story pretty damn well.)
The pics
are hosted on over at the Elevational
Computing Design site, so traipse on over and sift through the oodles
of noodles...er...pictures.
For I Am The
Frizzle Fry
(by Kluv, 1:24am, 2/14/02)
And from
the darkness it returns. My friends, I managed to not only get home
from work at a decent hour, but I also restrained myself from getting
sucked into the narcotic bliss of the Playstation 2 and it's delicious
treats of Madden, NHL, and GTAIII. Aren't you lucky? I saw that things
were getting a bit dirty around this cyber-house, and it needed a bit
of a cleaning. Therefore, I hiked up my pants, got out the trash bag,
and started scrubbin'. My first business? The events section. Y'all
know that it has left a great deal to be desired, and with no updates
pushing such great times like Mrs. Grundy's last gig, BA's last show,
and Bob's Upcoming Stand-Up Gig, I knew it was time for some changes.
What changes would that be? Why the modification of the events
page so that it is now it's own fully-interactive section on the
messageboard where you can post your own events without relying on Slow
Old Man Kluv. Check it out Here--I'll still be doing updates myself
on it for events, but feel free to post your own as well. No registration
required, just Add Topics at your leisure.
In other
cleaning news, I swept up the Archives into two neat piles, the First
Year (if you can belive we've been around that long), and the Current
2002 section. Also, what with the mass migration of the "Old
Republic" here in Astoria (and the rise of the "New Republic",
I've modified the Jedi Pages to
reflect the changes thus far. (and if you haven't heard, look for Deeb
and No to make some moves in the near future as well...)
So what has
been up with the Jedi? I'm not really sure. My time has been mostly
at work with Sperm (& China-Boone-Teng), "Ed'ing" it up...with
the rest of the free time falling under the category of "sitting
on the couch and playing PS2" (although I got some extra time this
week and decided to be productive and dye my hair black. Whoo.). GiMp
is still in Ohio 'Forbidden Broadway'ing' it up (quite well, I might
add. i'll get getting some reviews soon from her and be sure to get
them up there as well.) The Duck man tripped the light fantastic
two weeks ago on Law & Order, and continues to spread his gospel
of Rock with the Sinners of Mrs.Grundy.
Diesel was working on the Dan Akroid Sci-Fi show until it was
shelved for "Re-Tool-ing", and now I think he's down walking
around Port Authority trying to turn tricks...Frants just got
employment at an ad agency (he also just purchased a Playstation2 after
being driven insane with desire for the last few months). Spermy
is holding the keys to my cage and enjoying his new digs in the Village.
I actually saw him salivating on his desk the other day as pitchers
and catchers reported to spring training, his hands twitching like mad
as he prepared to launch his first Yankee Baseball Smack Talk post on
the board... Matt is off on tour and probably still euphoric
after the Patriots amazing Super Bowl Victory (I don't think that even
the Red Sox could bring this cat down from the clouds this year...).
For some reason, the mysterious messageboard troll known as "Rickock"
has returned, and it seems that nobody is taking notice. He's focused
on a few Mafioso so far, but hasn't seemed to spark anything of the
magnitude of the Jedi War that hit us last year. Guess we'll just have
to see if he strikes a nerve with anyone...Deeb is preparing
for a run to the Chicagoland to live with his girly-friend...and Lastly,
Bobo is in love with a new lady he met--and her name is the Internet.
He's the last person I know who actually waits to download MP3's over
a dial-up connection, and is all over his great computer that he got
for x-mas. God bless his little soul, he won't even take the experience
advice of Duck and I when he's surfing for, uh, shall we say, "artistic"
materials...? I also think it would be a good idea to rent Bobo some
storage space here in Queens for the weekends when he comes out to hang,
so that he can have a change of clothes and a cot, instead of trekking
back to Washington Heights at 4AM, only to come back the next
day. He's a soldier, what can I say?
As for the
rest of you--I haven't seen too many of you in a long time, and hope
all is going well. My boy Klove is
coming up for his first 2002 visit this weekend, and promises not to
spend it all playing GTAIII. It's probably a safe bet that he'll be
able to slide in some drinking somewhere...
I am well
aware of all the empty promises of Ithaca Trip photos and New Years
photos that have come and gone over the last few months. Hopefully they
will be empty promises no more, as I think I've discovered a section
where I can get them up for you to peruse. So, as soon as they go Live,
I'll let you cats know. Really, I'm going to actually try hard this
time. Seriously. I will. No foolin'. Honest. Word is bond.
Well, I think
that's all your going to get for now. I finally got something up and
running at my ElevationalComputing.com spot round the corner'. Check
the Mystery Link to peep. I just might return soon. (At least you can
hope I will....)
Do
we actually DO things anymore?
(February, 2002)
I hate
to tell ya kids, but I'm so out of the loop, it's pathetic. I know Mrs.
Grundy has gigs, I know tons of you like BA and GiMp are in shows, but
I haven't actually been able to sort through all the dust that keeps
piling up on all the event emails... My solution: Move the event page
to it's own user-friendly section where it can be updated with events
by everyone. That way, you don't have to rely on my slow and out of
date ass to get the info up for you (which would mean that it would
be over by the time I get it up). Go ahead and put it up whatever you
have going on, and let me know if you have any problemos.
