Open Up And Say... Spaaaaaaaaaaaaa(Ha)... (by Kluv, 2/27/03, 1:19am)

So, what else to do when you're stuck at work until 1am but put up a gallery? Nothin'. And without further ado, I bring you the gallery for the 2nd Annual Spanish Harlem Semi-Formal. Enjoy the tiny selection of these drunken pictures from last Saturday, and see if you can count how many times folks flip the bird in these pics. It's like "Where's Waldo?", except for the middle finger.

Oh, and the Dave Chapelle show made me wet my pants earlier tonight. No foolin'. The "Ask A Gay Dude! w/ Mario Cantone" segment was choice.

Why, Georgia? Why?

P'wipped! (by Kluv, 2/25/03, 5:12pm)

A successful WIMR show last night. Tunes were enjoyed simultaneously on both coasts -- the kids in NYC and the kids in LA-LA all chatted and sang along together, while the littlest Mafiaite, the Weelson, got a kick out of some sexi Prince tunes. Also: so everyone is aware, Bobo's new show schedule will be on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS (so thats he can gives his woman some sweetsweet lovin' on Mondays -- which, as you know, we all could use on the beginning of the workweek).

The Spa-Ha 2nd Annual Semi-Formal seemed to be a big hit with all the drunken kids (...with the exception of Brantley's sleeping, Diesel's working, Gareth's Pendicitis, and my Parking ticket...), so I will be getting pictures from Frants this week... And hopefully a gallery will follow soon after.

Other than that, 24 is on tonight. Go watch it. It's a great show. Seriously.

Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps. (by Kluv, 2/21/03, 11:36am)

Greetings, y'all. After a successful opening week on the air, Bobo is rearing to go with a regular IthacaMafia Radio programme. He captivated double-digit listeners on both nights this week with his unique blend of listener requests, comedy interludes, musical theatre, and Britney Spears. Therefore, you can now catch the CatontheStairs every week on Mondays and Thursdays from 7pm to 11pm EST, exclusively thru the Pirate Radio Network! For more info, and to drop off some instant feedback, head on over to the new RADIO section of the site.

I'd also like to remind the freakniks out there that this weekend is the 2nd Annual SPANISH HARLEM SEMI-FORMAL. And I know what you're saying... Sure, you get drunk like every other weekend in Spanish Harlem, why should this be any different, right? I'll tell you why this one is different: Because you'll be dressed to the nines while you get completely faced this time. It makes the act of vomiting up that Mad Dog 20/20 oh so much more.....classy. So, head on over to the events section, and print out your directions to the SpHa Pad -- or you're going to miss out on the biggest bash of February 2003.

Radio Goo-goo, Radio Gaa-gaa. (by Kluv, 2/15/03, 12:45pm)

So, did you think that Bobo had dissapeared faster than a new Eddie Murphy picture at the box office? If you did, you were wrong... For Bobo simply returned to his BatJerseyCave and began experiments on a new venture. Something that, if it is successful, could prove to be highly enjoyable for the lot of us. Something to break up the dull drudgery of the workalong day.

Our own radio show.

Or rather, Bobo's triumphant return to the airwaves (since he was fired in that controversial "Best of Broadway's Bobbing for Bobo" stunt back on WICB). Will it be his greatest triumph? Or will it be as difficult to stomach as a 4-hour stint of the new WNEW? The answer, dear listeners -- is up to you. Bobo is anxious to get your song requests and feedback, and you'll have a chance to catch the first test run of "WIMR" or "IMR" (whichever you prefer... Frants likes to say "Whymer" and I'm down with "Eye-em-ARRGH"... both are solid) this...

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 17th, from 7pm to 11pm EST

To tune in at that time, just set up your computer by following these easy steps:
1. Go to www.pirateradionetwork.com
2. Download their player, the "Destiny Media Player"

3. Install it.
4. Use the player to tune in on Monday from 7pm - 11pm.
5. Rock out wit' cha' bad self.
6. Harass Bobo via cellular phone or instant messenger (Bobo's ID = catonthestairs).

You'll only be able to tune in when Bobo is broadcasting (for now), but when he is up and running, you can find the station under the "Mixed Format" section of the radio stations. WE ARE... Ithaca Mafia Radio.

So head on over to the board, and see if Bobo can get this baby off the ground.

In other news, I saw Daredevil last night. It was exactly what I feared it would be. 'Nuff said. Go TEAM EVERYONE!

Cupid de Locke (by Kluv, 2/14/03, 9:09pm)

It's Valentine's, and I'm at work. So, if you're too busy to write a personal Valentine for that special someone (or thing), then check out the following link.

Lazy Man's Valentine Generator

Hope you have a good time on this sweet sweet lovin' day...

I'm your Venus, I'm your fire, it's your desire.

You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire. (by Kluv, 2/10/03, 6:23pm)

Happy pre-valentines day. The snow keeps falling outside, the shit keeps falling inside. That's a running theme these days. But, like we do, we're still plugging along at our various tasks just waiting for that nice day of rest (or the baseball season, whichever comes first). For those of you about to rock, take note that the Second Annual Spanish Harlem Semi-Formal has been pushed back a week. And before you start your crying and your throwing of your molotov cocktails thru Mr. Fopper's window, know that it is for a good reason:

"We are contacting you and all six of the "Best of" 48 Hour Filmmakers (representing DC, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Austin) to let you know that we have put together a screening and award ceremony for you--The Best of 2002. Our national judges panel have met and made their selection. It will be announced on Sunday, February 16 in Washington, DC. On Saturday evening, for those of you in town early, there will be a cocktail party.

Sunday's festivities will include a screening of all six films and announcements of the winner of the Best 48 Hour Film of 2002. Each team will receive a specially commissioned "48 Hour" Award (If you cannot attend it will be shipped to you) Following the awards there will be a party. Approximate time of awards and screening--5-6:30 p.m. Party 6:30-9 p.m.
"

So, yeah. As you can expect, a number of the members of Team Everyone will be attending the ceremony -- hopefully to hoist that 'BEST 48 HOUR FILM OF 2002' trophy above their heads. Keep yer fingers crossed for your NYC Grand Champion Film, "Bestseller", and hopefully we'll bring some honor (or dishonor, as it may be) back to the apple. I myself will be staying in the area (as I hope and pray for my promised 3-day weekend to remain intact and free of work), but methinks that Porter & Co., along with Frants and and others will be heading down.

Be sure to hop over to the NY Times to peep an article on Seussical and other tours -- featuring a picture, no less! A bag of ladyfingers to the person who can spot the GiMp. It's tricksey. Read Seuss Here!

Finally...it seems that our Bobo is MIA. I know he's out there, but there has been a rising up on the messageboard over his lack of dedication to his music section (and some beef with his choice of CD's to review...). So, it seems that new Management has been nominated by the people -- and with a 2 to 1 vote over ourlordandsaviorjesuschrist, Jedirish has stepped up to helm the duties. Godspeed, and may he raise up the status of that accursed forum like a pheonix from the ashes.

Good times. Talk to you fokkers lata.

Rat-Tat-Tat-Tat (by Kluv, 1/29/03, 9:04pm)

Oi. Wankas. Frants was right about the cold -- it has indeed driven us into hiding. But, there are many things that can take place whilst in hiding. Like the reading of books (gasp!) or joining of gyms (gasp! x 2) or the return of Haps (gasp! --for fresh air). So, after a mighty quick new year, I (of course) am back in S'ville burning my small candle (*cough* ...well, it's not that small...) at both ends.

But, I did get to see many of you at the China/Booner SuperBowl Party this past weekend, which was quite enjoyable. Matty's legendary "The Dessert" was a smash hit, and seemed to be devoured in less than an hour. And yes, I did join a gym this past weekend. I am now an official member of the Astoria Sports Club, going about 4 times a week and immersing myself in the Diesel Buffness weight training program. I'll be nice and greasy and buff (and possibly Greek) in no time!

For the first time in about two years, I've gotten to read some books. Over the New Year I hit "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman, "Violets Are Blue" by Patterson, "Choke" by Palhanuik, and "Hocus Pocus" by Vonnegut ( Great, Alright, Interesting, and Great). But I highly reccomend my latest reading to all of you, Nick Hornby's "Storybook". Granted, I'm biased, since he's my favorite writer -- but it's a collection of 31 essays on some of his favorite songs (AND it comes with a 12-song CD to go along with it). The essays cover many of the reasons why I love music and what it means to me (and possibly you), and are probably worth it just for the "Thunder Road" and "Smoke" essays alone. Exerpt:

"Maybe the reason 'Thunder Road' has endured for me is that, despite its energy and volume and fast cars and hair, it somehow manages to sound elegiac, and the older I get the more I can hear that. When it comes down to it, I suppose that I too believe that life is momentous and sad but not destructive of all hope, and maybe that makes me a self-dramatizing depressive, or maybe it makes me a happy idiot, but either way, 'Tunder Road' knows how I feel and who I am, and that, in the end, is one of the consolations of art."

He's pretty much hit it on the head, don'tcha think? Damn right.

So, that's what I'm reading these days, and I've also been listening to a shitload of music and CD's.... Flaming Lips (Yoshimi, Soft Bulletin, Transmissions...) and ELO (Greatest Hits) and Earphoria (Pumpkins live and rare circa 'Siamese Dream') and the Rushmore Soundtrack (Kickass!). I also managed to pick two Izzard Boxed Sets (Unrepeatable & Definite Article & Glorious & Dressed to Kill), which are fabulous for long drives.

Other than that, haven't seen too many movies & haven't done too much as of late. Time flys. It's been a long and lonely winter. The Bohemian Beer Garden on a cool spring evening taunts me. But for now, we must make the most of the winter -- and so, Frants requests your presence at the 2nd Annual Spanish Harlem Semi-Formal. It's right after Valentines Day. It'll be worth it.

And to leave you on an up - note, I have a little picture for you to take a look at:

That's right. It's good ol' Matt Cavenaugh (who was my little brother once upon a time) riding the Urban Cowboy Tip... Take THAT Doug White.

Take that.

Cold SCHNAAAAAAPPPP! (by Frants, 1/24/03, 12:34pm)

Well, folks, the arctic blast (the actual blast of cold air, not the gum flavor) has driven us into hiding. The boards are relatively quiet, this page hasn't been updated in forever and a day and a half, and yours truly hasn't chatted online with any Mafia members other than Gimp (who was home sick yesterday in sunny Milwaukee) in weeks, and my new/same job is driving me crazy.

But cold weather should not drive us into hiding! NO! It should drive us to DRINK! So...

1) The Super Bowl. Who cares who wins? Drink through it.

2) The long awaited announcement of the 2nd Annual Spanish Harlem Semi-Formal! Yes, you remember last year's party: the artichoke dip, the near 100 guests, all in their Sunday best, and the drinkin'. This year's Semi-Formal was delayed from the holiday season, due to a recent move (never fear, STILL in Spanish Harlem!), but the new pad is ready to entertain you!

So, even though it's colder outside than a witch's teat rubbed with an ice cube in order to get it hard for her Showgirl audition, we need to stick together. Warmth comes in groups, and if we all just cuddle together.....

Duck, you get....yep, right there. Good. Sperm? Your arm around....good, watch for Kluv's....good. Irish? Where's Irish? DB, get off of Irish, he can't breathe. Alright, everyone, just SQUEEEEEEEEZE.

No idea. No contact with the outside world.

I don't know what you people do anymore, but I would if you just post it on the board. I know there's a semi-formal coming up in February... And maybe there are some birthdays out there.

But it's cold. We need some booze. Give us a reason do get some. Post on your upcoming event.

Cliznik Here to pop over to the Good Times Events Section.
