Best Friends Forever... (8/31/01, 10:33pm)

"Hi. I'm Roger Clemens.

I just wanted to take some time to thank Derek Lowe for making me the pitcher I am today. Lt. Frank Castillo of the Red Sox outpitched me all night, but thanks to the help of Mr. Derek--and his wonderful 'Derek Lowe Face'--I was able to overcome a near loss, and take my 18th victory tonight.

Therefore, I'd like Derek to get half of this win. So, my record will now be 17.5 wins & 1 loss, while Derek's will be changed to 4.5 wins & 10 losses. I owe everything to him, I really do.

A big thanks to all my fans in Boston (I know you're still out there), and look me up next time you're passing through the great state of Texas!!"

With Biscuts And Gravy And All The Fixin's. (8/31/01)

TGIF, mein freunds. Labor day looms, baseball abounds (for good or for ill) and I am now all alone in the humble abode (save one temperamental gatto). Thank goodness I have a newfound addiction in the guise of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. I look GOOD pulling off a 540 Stiffy over the clover-bowls in Marsialles...

Speaking of baseball, many of you may know of the running rivalry that many of the Mafioso have going (Sox vs. Yanks). It seems things will come to a head this weekend w/ a Three Game series in Beantown, but I fear that Boston's Boys are already looking towards a long Florida vacation in October... Nevertheless, the messageboard has been ripe w/ a large "discussion" on one Rocket Clemens that has been much fun. And now, with the 7 games within the next 2 weeks coming up, the Globe's own writers have begun the regular writings on him. Shaughnessy wrote a fine article on him (quite unbiased, for you Bomber fans--and yes, he compared him to Ryan), and for the record--over 80% of Sox fans feel Roger should go into the hall w/ Pinstripes.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in the hall w/ pinstripes. But I want to actually see HIM hanging there. Not just his uniform. It would be great--Roger hanging on the wall, they can dangle his Cy Youngs from him like christmas ornaments...
In fact, they should put him in TODAY. Keep his 17-1 record intact for his final season, and we'll just take Ted Lilly tonight @ the Fens.

Be sure and check the events page, Grundy is bustin' out with some new dates--and Duck is hard @ work recording their CD.

Did anyone catch Sportscenter today? Lennox Lewis and heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman went nuts on one another during an interview session on "Up Close". Rahman said Lewis' taking the rematch contesting to court was a "gay thing to do", to which, Lewis said he's "I'm 100 percent a woman's man. If he has worries about that bring your sister, bring anyone." Then they did the 2-minute staredown, the subtle "push the other away move that rapidly turns into a wrestling match" move, and then tried to grapple with each other until they trashed the entire set. It looked like Smackdown! on UPN. My favorite part was seeing the host Gary Miller, half assed trying to separate the two--he was saying "Come on guys, we don't want this" while trying to pull on Lewis with one arm (as if he, at 175lbs. would even be felt by the heavyweights...). You can catch the video over @ ESPN.

A great interview with David Sedaris over @ the Onion AV Club. Read on, little shavers.

So, after TEN years of dreaming, I'm going to finally see the band that I never thought I'd get the chance to: Jane's Addiction. I remember sitting in my Art class back in 1991 being "grunge", "alternative", and cut to the quick at the news that Jane's had broken up after the first Lollapalooza tour. It wasn't fair. I'd missed my chance. I would never get another. 3 years later, Perry formed Porno for Pyros, which was fine--and later Dave joined RHCP for a quick stint. Then they reformed w/ Flea when I was @ Ithaca, but all the gigs sold out in a matter of seconds, and I missed my chance again. Smited twice. Now, I am finally getting my redemption. For on Monday, October 15th, 2001, I will be experiencing Jane's Addiction in their splendor @ MSG.

Perry.
Dave.
Stephen.
Peter DiStephano on bass. (sans Eric A.)
Jane's Fucking Addiction.

And Me with my Friends.

Raleigh, here I come(8/28/01)

That's right. 'Tis I- Gimpington... or soon to be known as Adelaide. For those who don't know (God have mercy on your souls) I leave this Thursday for sunny NC! WOOHOO! I will miss you all during my short abscence. But not to fret. I shall return at the end of September, refreshed and ready to starve again. In the meantime though... I will probably not have internet access whilst I am there so if any of you want to take up an ancient form of correspondence (letter writing), Poop has my address. Go on try it. It'll make you feel like you're Johnny Reb writing to his broad during WWII. Or if any of you feel like braving the lines of AT&T, he also has my number. No smutty calls, please. I get those enough at home.

So my words of wisdom upon temporary departure- Enjoy the beginnings of fall, knowing the NYC stank will soon dissipate. Cheer for the Red Sox (as you all should be doing anyway) as they press on through the season. And finally, watch over my beloved Poopi Pants and Ella Mae. They are nothing without me.

I will miss all your precious asses. See ya real soon, kids!

(To drown your sorrows about GiMp leaving town, feel free to immerse yourself in some great new writings by Darth Okay Okay. It'll take the hurt away. --Jedi Kluv)
A Smooth Pimp and a Manservant (8/27/01)

That's right.  We based our whole lives on the teachings of Morris Day and the Time, babies.  The week went by with a blur, as we recovered from the crazy NH experience.  Feel free to peep a little gallery of the Wedding Fun that I put together.

Sox & Yanks play 7 times within the upcoming weeks.  Jedi China has great ideas about a way to bring opposing factions together. We love the Peds.

A big thanks to the 0 people who let me know what they think of the new layout I worked on--I really appreciate the effort!  Keep up the good work!

Week recap:
*Monday, Real World continues to infuriate. To get a better idea of my hatred (since if I talk about it anylonger i will simply rage andbash my computertobits), head over to mightybigtv.
*Thursday, went to BrookLiz' godmother's spacious/delicious west side pad & enjoyed much grilled foods & weiss beer.  Had a terrifying time with the 'Sharing Game', of which Twistedvein was the winner.  Also, good cake and ice cream, compliments of Duck.
*Friday, ate & Queens new Millenium diner (complete w/ scary lipstick-teethed waitress) & lost my sunglasses.  Then, rented the stupendous film version of 'Wonder Boys', and the supposed-film 'Dude, Where's My Car?' .  For some unfathomable reason, the cultural gem known as 'Dude' didn't fair well.  Twas' not a fine film, as I had hoped. No matter what Punk Rock says.  Shibby.
*Saturday, procured tickets to the highly anticipated J&SBSB & met up with the gang comprised of myself, GiMp, Bob, Sperm, Duck, Freds, Diesel, Kate, Bowie, the Worm, Kerry, & Pete @ the Cronin Phelan for beer/food.  After that, we headed down to the theatre to rush in to the not-so-packed 10pm screening of the final View Askew film.  Deeb herniating himself after laughing @ the Iron Monkey preview, & the rest of us wee-ed our pants for the next two hours.  Needless to say, the movie was "dear god!" funny, and I can't even begin to recap the bliss found within.  See what the Jedi have to say about it...
*Sunday, volleyball was to be had and enjoyed @ Prospect.  Punk Rock arranged the (final?) outing of the volleys & balls.  Took the beautifical day and spent it spiking & blocking & sunburning & gatorading & chiding.  Now we're aching like the old geezers we are.  But we also had a mmm mmm good dinner @ the Prospect Brewery (sweet potato fries to die for and a nice thin porter: ABitATurboDog, tasted by Diesel).

New Sims games (where you'll be able to LEAVE THE HOUSE to date!) and the Tony Hawk 3 for PS2 coming up.  My near-extinct N64 just got the THawk 2 this past week, so I think we all know what I'll be doing once my GiMpy leaves for NC... Everyone be sure to wish the GiMp a bon-voy-aj-ee before the Adelede's it out-of-town on Thurs...

Goonies is on DVD.  Grossville.

Katie Clarkbar dropped off a new short story for everyone's readin' pleasure! Now Our Writings section has grown by 33%!!!! It's a definite step in the right direction, so keep em' coming in, kiddos.

Be sure and check out the events page--the Fringe is over (Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend the events, but I was told that they were quite good...), but some stuff is still happenins. Peep it.

Bing Bong!  It's 4:35pm, Moooooooooonday, August the Twenty-Seventh, Two Thouuuuuuuusand and One!  News -and Weather, on the ones......

In The Garage (8/20/01)

Back in the land of stink & sweat I come, direct from sweet-smelling NH. Just a quick howdy-do to tell everyone that I'm continuing to update all the page layouts, so that everything should be pretty nice and consistant...please let me know what you think about all the changes.

The wedding in NH was excellent, and I'll leave it to GiMp to fill everyone in on our travels for the weekend, when she writes an update for the page.

I can say this, however: I got a healthy 14-20 hour dose of all-sport-talk-radio this weekend from Boston. I've discussed the Jimy Williams Tragedy for the last 120 Hours straight. The whole thing seems like a terrible blur (like the 12-point comeback of the Orioles on Sunday), and baseball suddenly seems very, very, sad.

In other sports news, I understand that some football took place this weekend--Anyone care to pen an update detailing the gladitorial events? Send it to me.

Oh, and has anyone else caught some of the X-Games? Totally Rad junk happening on the vert ramp Sunday night when Bucky lost on the last heat to a SICK run by Bob Burnquist. One Footed Smith to a Fakey Grind? GET OUT!@!&^%!

A new Mystery Link was dropped by Duckles. It is funny balls, and GiMp will probably have cereberal overload from it. I wonder if Ella could make a submission...

Okay, more later this week. Time to relax after travels. Kerrigan 4-life, yo.
